How a city's history and imageability are constituted and communicated is deeply political. By using photography as a technology of visual ethnography, I attempt to showcase unique ways in which we make sense of Indian cities by capturing oft overlooked textures of urban living, seeing, feeling, eating, and embodying as well as rhetorics/cultures of power, material, desire, aesthetics and leisure/play in the city. The idea is to condense a dynamic visual archive that deconstructs hegemonic narrations of the city by encouraging publicness to the writing of urban histories and realities.

This project follows my journeys across Indian cities including Mumbai, Ahmedabad, Pondicherry, and Banaras.
